Want to know a simple teacher tip and trick that I wish I would have known sooner?
Work When Students Do!
Yep! That is exactly what I said. But doesn’t that go against what I am supposed to do, which is teaching?
Nope!
If you are feeling overwhelmed, stressed and really reaching your breaking point there is absolutely nothing wrong with creating your own work day for you and your students. More than likely your students are reaching their breaking point too and probably would enjoy a class where they could just work and chill.
Feeling overwhelmed, stressed and possibly burnt out with all that you have to do?
I mean the grading, the emails, the lesson planning, making copies, uploading material, etc. really can become overwhelming at times and you can feel like you are barely staying afloat.
Want in on my little secret?
One of the ways that I would catch up on grading, emails, lesson planning or other things I was able to do in my classroom is that I would give students independent work or projects to work on.
Not only is this a change of pace for them but for you too! Students enjoyed it because when they work independently in my class they can listen to music. Funny how they work better when they listen to music. Something about it just calms them and helps them focus.
While they work on their assignment quietly, you can get things done to…WITHOUT feeling guilty!
Here are some of the assignments that I would have students work on:
- Une Personne Francophone Célèbre Projet
- Les Régions De La France Projet
- Choice Board Activity – Vocabulary
- Stations Activity
- Children’s Book Project
- Video Worksheet – World Languages
- Projet D’Émotions
- Passé Composé et Imparfait Writing
- News Report Project
- Le Cinéma Project
So, if you feel that you need some extra time at work to get things done, give your students something to work on independently. Not sure what to give them, check out my TPT Store with some great projects and resources to use!
As always, I hope that you have found this information useful and helpful to you!
Merci,
Amanda
P.S. – Here are some of my favorite activities that I do with my students to celebrate Easter:
You can get each of these activities individually or as a bundle.
