The holidays are quickly approaching and if teaching wasn’t already chaotic enough…November and December add to the fun!
Here are a few things to keep in mind during the next few months with students:
- Not every student has a warm and fuzzy home to go home to.
- Some students won’t have enough food over break, let alone being able to celebrate big holiday meals with family. School may be the only time when they get reliable meals and are not hungry.
- Some students dread holiday breaks. School is their safe zone. It is the place for them that is consistent.
- This time of year may bring out more behavioral issues for students who don’t enjoy the holiday season.
