What to do with Students as Winter Break is Near? Effective Ways You Can Review With Your Students, While Keeping It Fun!

Looking for some fun and new ideas to review with students? As always, the end of the semester proves to be hectic with the anticipation of winter break and the holidays!

(Please remember that not all breaks are a happy time for students, especially around the holidays. For some students being home is more stressful than school. They know at school they have a consistent schedule, with consistent meals and consistent people in their lives.)

However, this time around is exceptionally challenging for many of us, as we are trying to navigate our new normal in the world of teaching right now.  I just want to take a quick moment to say THANK YOU! Thank you to all our hard working teachers out there! This year has been like no other, and each and every day you continue to show up for our students! Somehow this year, I feel a THANK YOU is just not enough, but we are so grateful and appreciative for YOU! Better days are truly ahead!

The end of the semester for many teachers means:

  • preparing for midterms,
  • end of unit tests, (secretly looking forward to our much needed winter break),
  • finalizing grades with comments,
  • planning for the start of the new year,
  • organizing/cleaning up our classrooms for break,
  • tying up any loose ends, & more!

For me, I was always on the lookout for new and fun ideas to review the curriculum that had been taught. For me at this point of the semester, I would be trying to wrap up a unit, prepare them for a midterm, all while trying to incorporate some holiday fun! Would now be a good time to talk about Teacher Tired…. 😜
