Happy New Year!!! Just kidding 🤣
I don’t know about you but the start of a new school year always feels like a fresh start!
A time to set up new routines, habits and goals.
With everyone now in back to school mode, it is a great time to set everyone up for success, especially at home. Here are some routines that I will be setting up for myself and my family.
Evening Routines:
- Eat dinner as a family.
- Play Time – outside, family walk until the weather gets cold
- Pack school lunch – making lunches the night before saves SO MUCH time in the morning!
- Get backpacks ready – check the calendar and make sure everyone has what they need.
- 10 minute tidy – clean up kitchen, toy room and living room. I don’t know about you but I sleep better when everything is all set for the morning. (We call it the 10 second tidy with our daughter from The Big Comfy Couch!)
- Shower/Bath and pajamas – everyone takes a bath or show at night that way the bathroom is clear for everyone to just brush teeth, etc.
- Snack & brush teeth – Everyone has a snack while we watch a show and then brush our teeth an off to bed.
- Choose clothes for next day- everyone picks an outfit for the next day and has it out and ready. This will save you from getting a headache first thing in the morning…LOL
- Read a book/story/prayers then bed.
Morning Routines:
- Wake up at the same time every day.
- I wake up at 7:00AM to have a little me time (coffee, devotions, self-help book).
- I get everyone else up around 7:30 AM, if they don’t wake up before hand.
- Go potty – to all my toddler/little’s Mom’s out there, IYKYK
- “Wake up” time – giving them time to wake up, have juice/water and watch a show.
- Eat breakfast – we eat breakfast as a family when possible.
- Clean up breakfast and tidy the kitchen.
- Makes coming home to a clean kitchen so much nicer and helps to make dinner quicker.
- Brush teeth, get dressed and ready for the day.
What routines do you and your family have?
As always, I hope that you have found this information useful and helpful to you!
Merci,
Amanda
