Tips for Successful Classroom Management

Tips for Successful Classroom Management

Well, if you are like many of us and it is now the second or third week of school… they honeymoon phase has ended!

Which means our students are now much more comfortable and showing us their true colors. To all my world language teachers out there, our honeymoon phase could have ended a lot sooner as we tend to see the same kiddos every or every other year.

Since it is still early in the school year, it is still a great time to review your classroom rules and procedures for you and your students.

Having classroom procedures and rules will allow for smooth transitions in class for the fact that students will know and understand what is expected of them.

One of the hardest things to do as a teacher is classroom management. It really does come after many years of trial and error and I promise it does get easier!

Below are some of my classroom management resources that I use all the time in my class. It has truly made a difference!

Remember there is not right answer when it comes to classroom management. There is no one size fits all and you may have to do things a little different for each class that you teach. And that’s OK! Find what works for you and your students and DO NOT compare yourself to other teachers or classes!

I have also come to find that putting accountability back on the students not only helps them but helps you too! Yes, we care about their education and grades, but they need to care too! Plus we already have so much on our plates this is a way to ease some of that load while showing students how to advocate for themselves.

Here are the resources that I use to help run a smooth and effective classroom.

Cell Phone Policy & Log:
This is a classroom management resource that is used to track the use of students’ cell phones in the classroom. This is a great way to make sure students are using the most of their class time and only have their cell phones for educational purposes or when permitted in class.
